Outdoor shopping center that entails a lot of walking from end to end. Food court isn't too exciting.
What to buy: Upscale designer shops & off priced Neiman Marcus, Saks, leather ,jewelry, gifts, fragrances, shoes, leather,
What to pay: 50 to 90% off retail. Some items are not 1st quality & what is sold in the stores. Check carefully!
There is a massive 220 shops outlet village outside New York called Woodbury Common. It's about an hour and a half away by bus. During the coach trip you'll see a bit of different kind of US than just Manhattan. They have all the posh shops such as D&G, Gucci, Versace, Calvin Klein as well as loads of other 'normally priced' shops that sell only one brand such as Samsonite, Tumi, Lacoste, Gap and Timberland.
What to buy: Clothes, shoes, luggage.
What to pay: Less than you would pay in the city. For instance, Timbaland clothes and shoes in the Woodbury Common shop are about third of the price what they are in the UK. Unfortunately, they do not have very much items for women, only shoes, socks and a few belts. There is a lot of stuff for men though.
Go to the Woodbury Outlet... its an hour or so out of New York... You can get the bus there... Buy one of the RED BUS tour packages that give you the ride there... I think it costs $39... but its worth it.. the prices at this place is great... I have never seen anything like this before in my life!!!
has all top & big branded stores... 5th Avenue, Desiel, Guess, Gucci, Amarni, Nine West, Addidas, Ecko, Nike, Puma, Surf shops, shoe shops, home shops and more!!!!
What to buy: everything!!!!!!
What to pay: stupid prices... shoes for $40 - $50 top brand shoes too
Woodbury Common located in Harriman NY some 35 miles north of New York City is the premier discount mall in the New York area. With over 220 stores, all the usual suspects - Levi, Bass, Polo, Coach, Nautica, Nike - are represented. But true upscale stores dominate the back row of stores including Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Zegna, Ferragamo, Tahari, von Furstenberg, and many others. This is a full day shopping extravaganza.
ShortLine bus service offers hourly busses from Port Authority Terminal 2nd Floor at 41st St. and 8th Avenue, hourly on the 15 minutes with similar returns beginning at 0715. There is a food court with an assortment of fast food takeout places as well as some with tables - crowded, loud, with echoes, and expensive. For those with access to a car, the mall is entered directly from the exit ramp of Exit 16 on the NY Thruway. But for 5 extra minutes driving time and spectacular beauty in the Bear Mountain State Park e-mail me for simple directions for a stunning trip. With the car, there are two passable eateries within 1 mile north on State 32, an Italian restaurant and the venerable Bright Star Diner.
What to buy: An educated consumer is the best customer - nowhere is that more true than Woodbury Common. In many of the less expensive outlets, the product available may or may not be current but may well be seconds or items made exclusively for discount malls and of lesser quality. At the extreme upscale stores, deliveries of product may be as infrequent as every 6 months and much of what is for sale is a year non-current. While discounts can be honestly stated at up to 60-70%, these prices are off original retail and may have been discounted significantly prior to be being brought to Woodbury. With infrequent deliveries, popular sizes may not be available in all items.
On our recent trip, my wife had us in and out of Chanel in under 2 minutes - outdated, overpriced, limited selection, not such wonderful bargains. Next store - 70% off a current pocketbook selling for well over $1000 in New York City. And so on. One place that is generally a reliable source for good shoes and pocketbooks at reasonable prices is Todd's just around the corner from Gucci which is extremely variable. The Bass shoe store is sort of messy, but the prices are right and the styles rarely change. So caution and foreknowledge is the key to success here.
200 shops or so in one area. It could be a mall, but without the building connecting all the shops. This is an oulet area where you find every brand at discounted prices. Shoes and shirts might be last season's hottest thing, but if you dig hard enough you'll find some pieces of gold...
What to buy: Gucci, Nike, Adidas, Samsonite, Escada, Levis, Diesel, Aldo, Armani, Ralph Lauren - they're all here.
What to pay: Depends off course on what you get. We had to buy two extra suitcases from Samsonite.
Woobury Common in my opinion is "the place to shop". I have travelled around the world, and I have never seen a better collection of stores and prices to die for. You will have to see it if you visit NYC. Oh BTW, Woodbury Common is a collection of outlet shops. Check out their website:
