Belle of Louisville
While in Louisville, Ky on August 1st, Tony, Noel and I saw the Belle of Louisville Sternwheeler boat on the River. I am not sure how much it cost to ride it but to be truthful..I don't think I would like riding it..goes too slow..my life is fast paced and it seems a little slow and lazy for me...I know I need to slow down..but I am always on FAST...

Yes, a bowling alley and a music venue. Great place! Rent it for special occasions or stop by for a show. The Vernon Club holds one of the country's oldest bowling alleys and is really a neat place. They have a nice bar upstairs, with a private room available. The food could be improved, probably, but it's a bar and bowling alley.Downstairs is a...

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill
Shakers were/are a religious group begun in Manchester, England, emigrated to Boston, USA and traveled to Albany,NY. (We have been to Shaker homes and woodcraft places between Rochester, NY and Albany.) After a period of religious languor, a revival in the sect took place and Shakers settled in middle Kentucky and Ohio. Shaker Village at Pleasant...

Mammoth Cave National Park Restaurants
After eating a rather stale tasting sandwich from the National Park restaurant, we were glad to get an insider tip from the man working the information booth for a BBQ place just up the road from the National Park. He showed us a photo on his phone of a sampler platter stating that his son had said he could eat this entire plate of food but that in...

Mammoth Cave National Park Things to Do
The 1st tour we took was the Domes and Dripstones tour, a 2 hour tour that starts with a short bus ride and then a descent down 280 stairs via a very narrow staircase. We had 3 full buses that held 40 people each so there was at least 120 people on our tour, some of which moved at a very slow rate. Since we were at the head of the line, we spent a...

Walking Around the Visitor's Center
Mammoth Cave National Park Favorites
Even if you can't go into the cave, there are interesting things to see on the surface. There are signs about the various geological features. For instance one of them says:In the Pennsylvanian Period, 280 million years ago, a layer sand and silt was laid down by an ancient river delta, forming the slanted layer of mixed sandstone and shale visible...

High Cliffs Can Be Dangerous
Natural Bridge State Park Warnings and Dangers
In a typical year about 40 people fall from cliffs in this area; two die from their injuries and some others are permanently disabled. It often takes several hours to rescue and transport the injured to a hospital. Most victims are young adults who wrecklessly venture too close to the cliff edge. It's frightening to think that approximately one in...

Buffalo Trace is far from the only whiskey bottled here. Fourteen different brands are formulated from the distillery and warehouses. Many are brands that have originated here like Blanton’s, Stagg Jr, Elmer T. Be careful when hiking as some trails are very narrow. Some of the drops are very high! It is best to stay on the trails and not to wonder off as if something happens to you it would take longer for rescuers to find you. There are many warning signs posted throughout the trails but you must use your own common sense as well.
