Relaxing with a great view of the city
Spanish Banks is a beautiful place to relax. Whether its the winter or summer make sure you come out. In the summer make sure you get their early to get parking. Their are stands where you can buy food as well as drinks. Facilites are also their so you can shower and use the washroom.
The tide can go out really far so make sure you walk out there. There is plenty of boarding that goes on. Its a great spot to take a dip in. -
Beachy
Maybe the all so crowded hip Kits beach is not for you. Spanish Banks is a beautiful long stretch of beach that gives you a great view of downtown. Hope my sandcastle from last year is still there. Don't miss the sunset..

Spanish Bank
The beaches here are great but you need a car as it's a bit out of the way. In the summer get here before 12 or 1pm or all the parking spaces will be taken. Beaches are clean and great for kids with lots of families. In the evening you get a great sunset and views of the city. Probably one of my favourite beaches as it's pretty quiet when its not weekends or scholl/public holidays. There are changing room/loos an ice cream stand and a live guard so no worries really.

Spanish Banks Beach
This is Spanish Banks beach. It's very long and very shallow. History tells us that the Spnish explored this area as the first Europeans. There are two concession stands, posts for beach volleyball and an abundance ogf tidal pool life.
It's a great place to swim if you have a reasonable tolerance for cold water. As you can see here from low tide that the lack of depth allows the water to be heated more than most other Vancouver beaches. Mostly the view is spectacular!- Beaches

Low Tide at Spanish Banks
The tide can go waaaaay out and in the summer time the pools of water are as warm as a bath. Kids (or adults) can loll about in them and wait for the tide to come back in to cool down.
For variety, the kids can look for crabs under rocks near the shore and dig for clams or ghost shrimp, etc.
There is also a dog-friendly area where dogs can cool off in the water on a hot day and run about freely which is a joy to watch.
The view is lovely and it never seems to get crowded.- Family Travel

Hang out at the Beach
This is the view of Vancouver from Spanish Banks which is a great beach to hang out on. There are places for sports, picnics and just hanging out and enjoying the weather. Gets very busy in the summer.
