The Atlantis Hotel a cheapskates guide.

by IreneMcKay Written Jan 11, 2015

Dubai can be as cheap or expensive as you want to make it. You could stay in the Atlantis Hotel, or pay to use its Aquadventure Waterpark which certainly does look lovely, or visit the sea-lions, or the dolphins, or the aquarium. All of these things are expensive. We considered visiting the aquarium but did not, instead we just had a wander around for free.

There are security men all over the hotel to make sure you cannot go to things you have not paid for, but without paying you can laugh at the gold dispensing ATM machine in the lobby, admire the sea themed paintings on the lobby ceilings, have a look at the dolphin themed lights. Walk down to the front of the hotel and try to get a photo that doesn't have ninety-two cars in it. We enjoyed all of these things, but then we are cheap to run and easy to please.

Ride the monorail for the views.

by IreneMcKay Written Jan 11, 2015

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I had read negative things about the monorail but personally I liked it. It now links with the new tram. Get on the tram from the metro at Jumeriah Towers Station or DAMAC Properties Station and get off at Palm Jumeriah. The walk from the tram to the monorail is odd as you go through a huge car park, but at least it is indoors and air-conditioned.

You cannot use your NOL card on the monorail. You must buy a ticket from a person or a machine. Single tickets are 15 dirhams, return tickets are 25 dirhams.

The monorail will take you up the trunk of the artificially created Palm Jumeriah Island to the Atlantis Hotel.

From the monorail there are wonderful views of The Burj al Arab Hotel, the Dubai skyline, the Atlantis Hotel Beach and Waterpark. You will also see all the posh houses on Palm Jumeriah Island. There is still some construction going on.

The Burj Al Arab from the Monorail. Houses on the Palm Jumeriah Atlantis Hotel Beach. View from the monorail. Atlantis Aquaadventure from the monorail.

    Atlantis Aquaventure:Master Blaster Water Coasters

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

The Master Blaster Water Coasters are a group of jet water infused circular and zig zagging water slides that are located at the Zigurrat Tower. You can ride a 1 man inflatable tube or a two man inflatabale tube and then the water jets propel you to the twist and turns of the long and winind slide up to the dark tunnels and down below for an exhilarating 40 second ride.

they have four levels of master blaster coasters.

    1) the falls- the lowest water coaster slide
    2) the stinger- the second highest level water coaster slide
    3) the plunge- the secodn highest, consist of two 20 second water coaster ride that is split in the middle.
    4) the surge-the highest water coaster slide, located at the same level of the leap of faith slide

The Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is now the in thing to quench the dry heat in the Dubai Desert. It has overtaken the Wild Wadi Waterpark in sheer poularity as it has better water roller coaster rides, the leap of faith water slide, the shark attack water slide, assorted raging river rides and a large private beach for guest along the Palm Jumeirah Island. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark:Palm Jumeirah Beach

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

One Good Thing upon having a day trip to Aquaventure Waterpark in Atlantis Resort is that they have a private 800 meter (1/2 mile) long beachfront along their side of the Palm Jumeirah Islands, which are exclusive for the waterpark's guests (the Atlantis Resort has another private beach access along the other side for the check in guests, but check in guest also have access to this beach at aquaventure. The waters is are less rough than the jumeirah beach on the other side of the palm islands as this beach front is facing away from the Persian Gulf, hence the water is more calm and there is no riptide.

you can just hang around and sun bath at the beach or have a sun tan or watch the cute girls or have ice drinks via the Shark Bites Restaurant, which is the nearest restaurant to the beach. And don't worry as they have life guards here too.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark Leap of Faith Slide

by machomikemd Updated Aug 6, 2013

The Leap of Faith Slide is the biggest attraction at the Aquaventure Waterpark. The ride is located at the top of the Zigurrat at the middle and is an almost vertical slide that is about 9 floors in height that goes speeding through a clear acrylic tube surrounded by sharks and rays. This waiting time here is about 1 hour as this is the most popular attraction in the waterpark.

The Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is now the in thing to quench the dry heat in the Dubai Desert. Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: Shark Attack Ride

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

The Shark Attack is a long slide ride located at the middle of the Ziggurat (Tower of Neptune) where you will slide down a dark tube for 20 seconds of twist and turns and then drop into an acrylic glass tube in the middle of a shark filled lagoon! this experience is exhilarating and see my videos too.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: Tower of Neptune

by machomikemd Updated Aug 6, 2013

The Ziggurat Tower (recently renamed the Tower of Neptune, is the centerpiece of the Aquaventure Waterpark, this 9 story high step like pyramid is the center of the roller coaster style rides of the Aquaventure Water park like the Master Blaster Water Coasters (low-the stinger, medium-the plunge and highest-the surge water slides), the shark attack slide and the leap of faith long slide from the top of the zigurrat.

    Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: The Torrent

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

While doing the rapids and the lazy river ride, one of the exits of the lazy river ride is the children's playing area, other zero entry pools, the tower of neptune (formerly the Ziggurat) and the Torrent. The torrent is the biggest pool in the water park and it is here where the huge wave generator (the torrent) is located, capablem of churning out 1 meter waves every 10 seconds. they also have many chairs and tanning beds in the area around it.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: River Rapids Ride

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

Since the Lazy River ride of Aquaventure has many detours and turns, you could turn up into one of the designed river rapids ride, where there are powerful jets below the pool that simulates being along a raging rapid in a river and the lazy river ride has several of them since it is not just one circle going around the waterpark but it is like an artery that criss crosses the water park and this rapids ride are exhilerating! see my videos too.

Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark: Lazy River Ride

by machomikemd Written Aug 6, 2013

just near the entrance is the lazy river, called the rapids, it is a 1 mile long river like pool that zig zags along the area and surrounds the main Tower, the Zigurrat (now known as the Tower of Neptune). There are a variety of entry/ exit points along the long river ride and the ride can lead to zero entry pools or to various raging rapid style tubes or to the main swimming area with wave generator, called the torrent. you can get one person or two person inflatable tube in the lazy river ride. You can just travel around the lazy river rather than walk to go to other areas of Aquaventure.
