Dubai Marine Restaurants: For all tastes

by solopes Updated Jun 9, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

During the day all the movement into and out Marina Beach hotel must use the reception.

When the night comes the gate to the pools area and restaurants is open (and switched to the reception the access from residential area) and the restaurants are open to the public (ingenious solution).

Several cuisines and a club turn the night more animated than the day. At least in hot summer days. Eating "at home" gives time for fun and relaxation.

Restaurants and Bars at The Walk at JBR: The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residences Restos

by machomikemd Updated Jul 30, 2013

This will be my restaurant tips of The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residences, I will have separate things to do and Nightlife Tips for it.

The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residences is the only Mall in the long Jumeirah Beach (stretching from Bur Dubai to Jebel Ali) that has views of the Beach (but will be partially covered by next year the the Beach Mall , which is going to be finished next year) and this 1 mile long (1.7 kilometers) Mall is the largest outdoor mall in Dubai and is a favorite dining and partying area for Local Emiratis and Foreign Expatriates as it hosts a large number of restaurants, bars, lounges, coffee houses, pastry shops and clothing shops. The mall is located in front of the Condominiums and Apartments of the Jumeirah Beach Residences in Dubai Marina.

Opens: 10:00 am to 12:00 midnight everyday.

Favorite Dish: among the restaurants and coffee houses and bars in the walk are Starbucks Coffee, Tim Horton's, Costra Coffee, Burger Fuel, Chowking, Chinese Panda, Chili's, IHOP, El Chico, Kosebasi, Wagamama, Bombay By The Bay, Trader Vic's Mai Tai Lounge, Black Canyon Coffee, The Noodle Room, The Pizza Company to name a few.

Depends on you choice of cuisine.

Several restaurants along the front: Shingdaga Water Front Area

by IreneMcKay Written Apr 17, 2012

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are several restaurants located on the edge of the Creek on the Shingdaga waterfront area. We ate in one at Christmas. We ordered several mezze but you can have main courses, too. Of course the restaurants do not do alcohol. I had excellent mint tea here. The food was quite good, maybe pricier than other local food options but the setting is great with lots of people strolling past and a wonderful view of the busy waterfront. Especially nice on breezier days or in the cooler evenings.

In Bur Dubai or Karama: Traditional Indian Restaurant

by Shibiru Written Feb 26, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Many people go to Indian restaurants here in Dubai, in hotels, in the city and in the malls...however, they are all overpriced and the food isn't very good as it's changed for the European/Western taste.

If you do want to try the real thing, you should go to districts called Karama or the one called Bur Dubai. There, you will certainly find a good restaurant in every corner. They might seem a bit dodgy and you will probably be the only Westerner inside...but it's worth it! And it's cheap!

Favorite Dish: Just try it...we normally don't understand anything on the menu and just get whatever comes.

Just remember, whatever you eat, don't use your left hand...Indians only eat with their right hand...and they don't use cutlery so if you don't wnat to get messy ask for some and they'll probably get a fork or a spoon for you.

CHANGES DAILY !!!!: 'THE' RESTAURANT TIP !

    MEAL DEALS

Eating out in Dubai can be either cheap or VERY expensive. If you want alcohol with a meal, then you must eat in a good hotel and that can be expensive. It does not have to be! The free ‘Time Out’ magazine lists all the daily buffets across Dubai that even includes alcoholic drinks! By the time you leave these restaurants, you will definitely have had your money’s worth! Enjoy.

Anywhere you go in Dubai you find several local and other middle east style restaurants. These kitchens offer great varieties of different meals. Lamb chops, chicken , rise and hummus and god knows what other dishes we tasted but they were all soooo delicious!

Local restaurants: Just round the corner

by PrincessMonja Written Feb 19, 2007

Sorry to be a bit vague (again). I can't remember the exact names of the local restaurants that we went to. They all had very tasty food, but no alcohol.

The first night we arrived we were waiting for it to get cooler before we ate, when it got to midnight we realised that it just doesn't cool down that much!!

We used the usual 'rules of travel' and chose places that were popular and didn't have lots of food hanging around.

**We didn't eat at the 'Disco restaurant' - but loved the crazy music and colourful lights!**

Favorite Dish: Lovely, lovely meze style dips served wih fresh herbs, vegetables and flat breads (delicious!) then grilled fish and meat with salads. Really very tasty, and much cheaper than the hotel restaurants.

Iranian Sweets: Iranian pastries in Deira

    by SWFC_Fan Updated Dec 28, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I called in at Iranian Sweets to buy some cakes during my visit to Dubai in December 2006.

I had walked past this cake shop on numerous occasions during my previous visits to Dubai, but this time temptation got the better of me and I ventured in to satisfy my sweet tooth!

This cake shop is located on the intersection of Omar ibn al-Khattab Road and Al Rigga Road, opposite the Al Ghurair shopping centre in the Deira region of the city.

There are no tables to sit at inside the shop, so you must select your cakes and take them away in a box.

There is a large selection of pastries, cakes and gateauxs displayed in the large glass counters inside the shop. These range from small, brightly coloured sugar and almond pastries to honey-soaked baklava-like cakes to lavish chocolate gateauxs. As well as cakes, the shop also offers dried fruits, nuts, tins of biscuits and boiled sweets.

I had already had my fill of rich Middle Eastern pastries following a visit to a Syrian cafe a few nights previously (see my other tip on "Damascus Sweets and Ice Cream"), so the thought of more honey and nut based cakes was not too appealing. Instead, I opted for:

    - a piece of chocolate gateaux (5 AED): chocolate sponge filled with cream and cherry sauce and topped with flaked chocolate and a cherry;

    - a piece of coffee flavoured gateaux (5 AED): a sponge cake topped with coffee flavoured cream and a strawberry.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a large selection of Middle Eastern and international cakes and pastries!
