Aerobus - Easy way to reach the city center

Aerobus is a convenient and fast option to reach the city center of Barcelona from the airport and vice versa. It takes about 20 minutes to reach Plaza Catalunya from the airport and it costs 5.65 Euro per person. You can easily find the Aerobus stop at the exit of the airport and you can get your ticket as you enter the bus.

An economical way to get from Barcelona's main airport to the city center is the Aerobus. For only 5.65 Euros, this blue bus takes you to downtown in no time. Since my hostal was located in Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter), my final stop was Placa de Catalunya. However, the bus first made stops at Placa de Espana, Sepulveda, Urgell, and Universitat, all on Gran Via Catalanes.

Aerobus gives a constant transport to and fro the airport every 10 minutes from 5:30am to 00:30am every day.

Cheap at 5.30 euro. Tickets can be purchased from vending machines or from the drivers.

This is the simplest way to get into the center of Barcelona it stops 3 times with the last stop being Plaza Catalunya .... trip cost 5.90 euro person one way ... the buses run every 10 minutes starting at 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM and run from both terminal 1 and terminal 2 .... the ride into town takes about 35 minutes. The buses have luggage racks ....

Now, to get to the airport in the middle of the day on the way back home was very easy to use the airport bus service that leaves downtown in the center of the city. Just remember to check out which terminal you need to select the right bus line.

You can pay anything from £13 to £20 for a taxi from Barcelona Airport to the city centre. But the Aerobus at the stop right next to the cab rank every 5 minutes will ferry you to the main Placa Catalunya for just £2.60 in about 35 minutes.

Aerobus: Airport shuttle to/from City Center

by virtualpatrick Updated Jul 10, 2010

The Aerobus is an efficient pick up / drop off express shuttle bus from the airport. It has 3 - 4 stops with the final stop at Plaza Catalunya. Cost is €5 each way and buses run every 5-10 minutes from Terminals 1 and 2.

I prefer this transportation to the city center (Plaza Catalunya) from the airport because:

+ you are on the ground and you get to see the city rather than being underground if you take the metro.

+ easier to get on/off with your luggage compared to going to the metro where you have to take escalators / elevators to get to ground level which can be challenging if you have lots of luggage

+ more conducive to speaking with fellow travelers. Every one on the bus came from somewhere. I sat with someone from Barcelona returning from Miami and we talked about the changes in Barcelona since the last time I visited 10 years ago. I practiced speaking Spanish while he practiced his English.

    Aeroport Bus

The Aeroport bus below the terminal 3 of Barcelona airport if convenient but a bit more expensive than the train. It will whisk you away from the airport to the centrum (Plaza Catalunya or Plaza Espagna - there's 1 or 2 more stops I think) in half an hour or so. Pay EUR5 at the driver or the man standing right next to the bus at the parking lot. Comfortable big bus with space for your luggages. My hotel is near Metro Parallel so I got off at Plaza Espanya and took the underground metro - Plaza Espagna - to Metro Parallel about 2 stops in between.

Traveling from an airport to your destination can be complicated. Not so in Barcelona, thanks to the airport shuttle bus.

Aeroport de Barcelona is just ten kilometres from the city centre, meaning transfer is quick and simple. An easy and affordable option is the Aerobus; even the first time visitor will have no trouble making the journey.
The Aerobus is located just outside the exit of the airport and runs every 12 minutes, stopping in Plaza Espana and Plaza Catalunya in the centre. Using Aerobus is cheaper than taxis. It will cost around 3,45 to 4.00 euros per person and for a round trip you may have to pay around 6.45 Euros. Tickets can only be purchased on the bus.

This service runs normally runs every 15 minutes within its fixed hours of operation. The time of its operation stretches between 6a.m in the morning to midnight. You can catch the Aerobus from the airport and make your stop at any of the terminals among the 3 terminals

    Aerobus to and from airport

by nyonnetti Updated Dec 16, 2008

It is super easy and cheap to get to and from the airport to the center of Barcelona. At the airport is the Aerobus (located outside of baggage claim), which costs 4.05 euros for a ride- we were staying near Plaça Catalunya so we took the bus to the Universitat stop, which is very close to Plaça Catalunya. The ride is only 7 miles or so and takes about 20-30 minutes. Going to the airport we caught the Aerobus at Plaça Catalunya (located on the side across from del Portel de l'Angel)- this goes directly to the airport and cost the same as coming. These buses on both ends are plentiful and I think the most we waited was 10-15 minutes.

Aerobus is the name given to buses running from the airport to the city centre and viceversa. This service operates normally every 15 minutes; between 6.00 a. m. and 12 p. m. These buses stop in front of each of the 3 terminal buildings.

Tickets are sold by the driver.

If you have to check what terminal you have to go on your return flight; you have to know that terminal 1 is very far from terminal 3.

    The airport bus

I arrived to Barcelona El Prat Airport and from there I took the A1 Aerobús to Placa d’Catalunya. On its way to Placa d’Catalunya the bus also stops at Placa d’Espanya, the corner of Gran via de les Corts Catalanes/Carrer del Compte d’Urgell and Placa de la Universitat. The ride took less than 40 minutes.
I bought a return ticket from the machine next to the bus. It was 7 Euro (February 2008). A single ticket would have cost 4.05 Euro.
The buses are frequent and they are running from the airport between 6 am (6.30 at weekends) until midnight.

This airport is about 18 kms. away from the city centre of Barcelona, and it musn't be confused with other airports published as Barcelona-something as, for example, Barcelona-Girona; this city is tens of kilometers away.

The best way to get to the city is by a bus called Aerobus (www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/sp/aeropuerto/aerobus), which takes you to Plaça Catalunya in about 20-30 minutes. From there, you can take the bus or the metro depending on where your accommodation is. This website is in different languages.

Instead of taking the taxi to barcelona downtown, you can just simply take the aerobus right outside the terminal. The aerobus departs every 6 mins during the peak hour and it only costs 3.90 euros one way. It can dropped you off at the university area or the Placa de Catalunya. Another stop is at the Placa Espana. The journey takes about 20 - 30 minutes.

    Airport Bus (Aerobus )

by SueWarwick Written Jul 4, 2007

The airport bus stops at all of Barcelona airports terminals and costs less then 4 Euros for a single journey or 6.45 for a return trip. Tickets can be bought on the bus.
The journey should take less than 40 minutes but allow for at least an hour in case you have to queue to get on the bus and journeys can take longer in rush hour.

The bus leaves every 6 minutes or so, however, there was a large queue at the stop when we were returning to the airport and a couple of buses left before we could get on.
The bus departs from in front of El Corte Ingles on Placa Catalunya. It stops at a few other stops along the way including Palca Espana . The bus does get very full by the time it reaches this stop, however, it appeared that some buses leave Place Catalunya with only a few passengers onboard, I assume this is to allow more passengers on at later stops.

To view a timetable click on the web link below and choose Aerobus from the menu (its near the bottom of the list) and click Ver.
The timetable itself is displayed in English and Spanish.

No pics of airport bus but here is the airport!
