The bus service is frequent, takes about 1 hour, and cost 10Rm from KLIA2 and 12Rm for the return journey, why the difference I have no clue.
To get to the bus station, after getting through immigration and clearing customs, get out into the main concourse, then go straight ahead through the shopping area until you see external doors. There to you left you will see a decending travelator. Take that and at the end do a u turn to get down 1 more level. This is the level the buses go from and you get your tickets from.
When in Malaysia I try to avoid taking taxis at all cost.
My hostel was in Bukit Bintang area so from Klia2 I took the bus to KL Sentral. The cheapest way to get from KLIA and KLIA2 to KL Sentral is via airport bus shuttles. the bus service takes about an hour to reach KL Sentral and costs RM10 for one way. from KL Sentral I took the monorail (the station outside the building) to Bukit Bintang station (Its a 5 stops along the monorail from KL Sentral to Bukit Bintang). The fare is RM 2.10 .
It's the cheapest way to get to Bukit Bintang, but it's very tiring if you have heavy luggage. The monorail station at KL Sentral is about 5 min walk from KL Sentral round a building site. there are no downwards escalators at Bukit Bintang station.
It's the best way for you if you travel light.
You can take an airport bus from Tasik Selatan Terminal (TBS) to KLIA 2 with Jetbus. It only costs RM9 per passenger.
The buses do not run every 30 minutes like other airport bus, so it is wiser to check the bus schedule before you are planning to take the bus to avoid any delay. It will take about 1 hour to reach the airport. Don't have to buy tickets in advance cause it is not very crowded in the terminal.
Jet Bus Schedules
Alternately, you can take the KLIA Transit to KLIA 2. It costs RM26.50 per passenger. It is faster and smoother.....
When you arrive in KLIA, you should go straight down to the KLIA Bus Station. You should turn right once you get out of the departure hall, then look for the signboard to the KLIA Bus Station.
Once you arrive at the Bus Station, you can pay for the bus ticket at the counter. Do check with them the time for the next departure bus leaving the airport. Wait for the bus at platform 1.
There is plenty space for your luggage space underneath the bus. I took the bus several times in KLIA , and it never gets crowded. I found that it is a comfortable ride to KL Sentral. It takes 1 hour to reach KL Sentral, also depends on the traffic during your ride.
Well, it is a cheap ride as RM10 per person comparing to take the KLIA Express as RM35 per person.
Check out its website for more information.
If you have a long transit period in KLIA, you can consider taking this bus out to a local town called Nilai. Nilai is a typical small town in West Malaysia. You will see shops, houses, supermarkets, and private colleges. This town has been chosen by local private colleges to set up their campuses here. So you will expect to see many college students taking the bus to campus.
Alternately, if you have a whole day or more than 6 hours in KLIA, take the bus and stop at the KTM Nilai Station. You can take the KTM train 9 stops to Mid Valley Shopping Mall by this train.
This is more like a budget option to see KL during your transit in KLIA. Otherwise, you can take the KLIA Express to downtown within 30 minutes, which will cost you RM35 each way!
The bus frequency is about 20 minutes.
Bus Fare: RM1.50 - RM3.20
This might be helpful if you have connecting flights between KLIA to LCCT.
You can catch a Cityliner Bus at KLIA Bus Station on platform 10 to go to LCCT, Airasia flights.
It has the frequency of 30 minutes each bus in each direction. I will take 30 minutes to reach the airport.
Bus Fare: RM2.50 each person.
If you arrive by plane to the low cost terminal (LCCT) in Kuala Lumpur then you have very cheap busses going in to town for just 8-9 Ringgitt for a one way fare.
To find the busses just take a left turn when you exit the airport and walk up to the end and then you will see a whole line of busses that genrally cost 8-9 Ringgitt for a ticket.
There is no need to reservet hese tickets in advance as they just fill up the first bus in the line and as soon as it's full it will leave and another one will pull up for the new passengers.
It's a very cheap and effective way of getting in to the city and these busses stop at KL Sentral where it's easy to find transport to other parts of the city.
As a local, I am really curious, can one really walk from KL Sentral to Petaling Street in less than 30 mins?
1. KL is not pedestrian friendly
2. Its a maze from Brickfields where KL Sentral is to Chinatown.
3. Its quite far in my opinion?
LCCT -> KL Sentral. Take the RM 9 bus, no doubt. Purchase your ticket right after custom clearance and head towards "Domestic Arrival". Far left of LCCT terminal.
From KL Sentral,
1. Take LRT (NOT Monorail or Komuter, totally different).
LRT from KL Sentral - "Kelana Jaya Line", head towards "Gombak", stop at "Pasar Seni / Central Market" station, 1 stop away but LRT is more frequent than Komuter. Petaling Street is to the East of the LRT st.
2. Take the Bus
Im not sure which bus to take from KL Sentral (B112 ??) you have to ask the tourist center to confirm . But your stop is "Kota Raya".
Petaling Street is directly to the South. This is actually the easiest route but, you might get stuck in downtown rush hour traffic. Might...might not.
3. Walk ? hmm still no from me.
You should check out http://www.myrapid.com.my/
Got the bus number from there though never took a bus from KL Sentral. So good luck!
at @HenryG12 "You could try the Komuter from inside Sentral, and take the train towards Sungai Buloh. Get down at the next stop (KL Station)" ---this would take ages just to wait for a train. Plus, would be jam packed at rush hour. Not worth it for 1 stop.
You got 3 options. Take a bus as they leave right away if the one youre in doesnt just take the next one that seems to be in a hurry to go. Some wants to fill others wont. Its 8-10RM. The train timings could vary and you have to wait but its also cheap just u gota get off at some station and move to another. U can take the express transit which is more costly but the fastest. Then taxi to your hotel.
Now, Star Shuttle offers a one-way bus trip from Kuala Lumpur's Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) to Subang Parade Shopping Centre at a fare of 9 Malaysia Ringgits. From Subang Parade, walk out and board a taxi to Subang Airport which costs 11 Malaysia Ringgits. From the bus stop outside Malaysia Airlines' Hadquarters in Subang, you can board Metro Bus or RapidKL Bus U82 to KL Sentral Station at a fare less than 3 Malaysia Ringgits.
KLIA and LCCT are still some 70km's from KL and you can either catch a taxi or a bus.
There are several bus companies that await you and the attendants will vie for your attention to use their business.
I quickly moved to the Star Shuttle counter as they had a sign that indicated that they will take you to Bukit Bintang.
The fare was RM15 per person.
One of the cheapest ways to travel from Low Cost Carrier Terminal (for Cebu Pacific/Air Asia) to KL is through the bus. It cost about less than 10 ringgit per head to travel from LCCT to KL Central. It does take an hour to get from LCCT to KL Central though.
From LCCT you can take Sky Bus to KL Sentral. See this link http://www.skybus.com.my/services.html
From KL Sentral you have two option. You can take MRT to Bukit Bintang station. From here you can walk to your hotel. (See the map of your hotel http://www.federalkualalumpur.com/location.php )
or option number two is you can take taxi from KL Sentral to your hotel. Buy the taxi ticket at the counter near from bus stop in KL Sentral station.
Now, travellers that would like to travel faster to KLIA-Low-Cost-Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang from KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur have a better choice. After landing at the LCCT, please select KLIA transit complimentary bus service to connect to the KLIA transit train service at Salak Tinggi Train Station in 20 minutes. Travelling by train from Salak Tinggi Train Station to KL Sentral takes 29 minutes. The whole journey lasts less than an hour while the Star Shuttle and AirAsia bus services from KL Sentral to LCCT lasts for 1 hour 30 minutes.
An adult KLIA transit train ticket costs RM12.50 one way (for a child RM6.00) if you could not decide whether to travel the same way from Kuala Lumpur to LCCT. However, a return adult-ticket costs RM22.00 only (for a child RM11.00).
When I arrived at KL past midnight I was hoping to catch the last bus because its more costly to take a cab going to KL. Luckilly, I was able to ride this bus. At RM 8 was able to go from KLIA to KK City
