This is the best restaurant in South Goa or probably all of Goa...period.Very few get their food, service, people and the beer temperature so right...
Have been a fan of this place for a long time, ever since I've been going to Goa. Was there recently in Aug 2010. Went in for lunch & told them that because I like the place so much that I got friends here with me who are new to their joint. They took extra care and when I told Bosco (he was waiting on us) that after the lunch we have a flight to catch, he made sure everything is on the table with time to spare.

And what a spread, we had pitchers of beer, (the best draught pitcher I had in a long long time), pompfret, shellfish in coconut (which was complimentary from them), chicken in Goa chilly fry, prawns in butter garlic, chicken xacuti, prawn balchao(local cuisine, dont miss) with Goan pao (local bread). We loved the local fare will go back for it more. Not that they are not good in other Indian and Chinese food, but they excel in local food so always try that.
And the cost, was Rs.3200 inclusive of tips amongst 8 people, thats not even 10 USD/pp.
Hows that for good food! May be if you order the big crab and lobster, will your food bill be much higher.
Dont miss ever, whenever you are in Goa.

Favorite Dish: prawn balchao - very spicy (and I eat chillies a lot) but out of this world
    chicken xacuti - dont miss,
prawns - in butter garlic...absolute relish
chicken in Goan chilly fry - if you think you know chilly chicken, think again,
Pompfret - in local spices, its a different ball game altogether
shell fish in coconut - never knew shellfish would be so tasty and above that the best thing about it that even the this complimentary dish was outstanding!!
Beer - so cheap, the price they sell it in the restaurant, I sometimes pay more for bottled water in some joints......Long live Kingfisher draught!

Martin's Corner: must go place for a wonderful dining

For all those who don’t know about Martin’s it is the must go place for a wonderful dining experience in Goa.
More than a decade ago, Mrs. Martin started cooking for local taxi drivers who needed to pass the time while waiting for foreign clients who were eating at more upmarket institutions. The secret soon got out, however, and now she presides over one of the best restaurants in the region. The menu here is extensive, and the seafood superb. Highlights include fish caldin, (cooked with coconut and spices), fresh lobster, big pomfret, or red snapper.
Very Nice.. Tasty , Pure goan food which teases the taste buds.. very satisfying. Nice atmosphere.

Favorite Dish: Prawns balchao: The prawns were close to the size of small lobsters and were distinctly clovey.

Great place stuck in a corner in south goa, near park hyatt...secluded down a road but everyone beats a path to the joint by 9 in the night. great place, great spread, chk out the pictures hung on the wall and delectable pastry counter at the entrance.
We had so much food and desserts yet the bill was just around 35$USD for 4 people...what else do you need in life

Favorite Dish: Loved the fish and chicken with the beer. Fish was fresh, chicken was tasty and the pastries were also v good. Go there with an empty stomach and go overboard by ordering all

    Martin's Corner: MO' Fish

by wrldtravler Written Dec 15, 2006

A must go place to eat just like star bar. Try and work it out so that you go to one for lunch and the other dinner and in between you can take in the sites and sounds of Old Goa.
Situated in Panaji, this place is a local favorite for the sea food.

Favorite Dish: Don’t miss out on the Chicken Masala, Fried Squids and the Masala Fried Mussels.

Martin's Corner Restaurant and Bar: Fantastic Goan Fish Curry

In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in Goa and I think many will agree. It can be found in south Goa in a tiny hamlet called Betalbatim which happened to be where my partner and I stayed for a week.

The food here is excellent and the best courses are of course the fish curries. We were warned about the strength of the chilly but found it fine. We came here many times and the staff became familier with us. They serve alcohol including local wine (Yuk). When we were here the clientelle mostly consisted of middle/upper class indian families.

Favorite Dish: Fish Curry, don't bother with the meat dishes. If you don't like things too hot then say something or else you won't be able to eat it.
