Receiving tourists in the summer
I did not use the Vila as a tourist but as a student, but I lived there for over 5 months.
The Vila Universitaria is the dorm for students of the Autonomous Barcelona University, so during all year the small appartments are occupied by students. However during the summer most residents leave to travel or visit home, and the plce has plenty of room. The university uses the summer season to open the place for tourists who want to take advantage of all the instalations.
I cannot say much about prices or services, since I was there as a student, but I can tell you about the instalations. The rooms are of a decent size, they have bathroom, kitchen and from two to six beds, depending on how much you want to pay.
The rooms are shared, this was somewhat annoying as a student, because you got to live with someone you didn't know and the arrangment of the rooms allows very little privacy. But as a tourist traveling with friends or family it won't be a problem.
The internet works all well and the vila has everything needed to living, While its something I'd never do, you can spend all day in the place to relax if you want.
There is a swimming poll, volleyball and football fields, ping pong tables, a mini market for all your groceries, and 24 hours security. Appart from the privacy matter I would say it's a good place to live if you can pay it, and its good for rest.
The Vila has the added advantage that it is in quiet place surrounded by forest, that makes it quiet in the night and nice for walks in the morning. at a walking distance you have the University campus if you want to know it, and the Bellaterra actual town, where you can easily access anything you don't find in the small mini market of the Vila.
Train access works perfectly, so if you want to rest in the summer, or you don't mind being 35 minutes away from Barcelona then you have a good choice.
I cannot tell you about proces, I think it was expensive for a university dorm, but as a hotel things may be different, as are the need of people.
Unique Quality: Being away from cities in a place surrounded by forest.
Sharing with students from all around the world, altought this is quite a lot less common in the summer where most students leave the place for vacations.
Directions: 10 minutes walk from Bellaterra train station, walking to the opposite side of the town. The place is perfectly signaled so no chance to get lost.
