I used to live here few years at Pak Kret. This area is just half hour drive from central Bangkok through expressway.
Pak Kret is a district of Nonthaburi, a border province of Bangkok. There's a beautiful scene of The Chao Phraya River pass through central of the district, travelling across the river by boat over Pak Kret Pier is a daily activity of locals here.

Ko Kret Islet My favorite area and also famous attraction of Pak Kret, is Ko Kret. It is a small islet just across The Chao Phraya River from Pak Kret.
When you get into Ko Kret, you can make a leisurely walk along the elevated walkway which rings the islet, wander through the villages to see lifestyle of locals.
There's also some ancient temples of the Ayutthaya period, beautiful in peaceful atmosphere. |
Local food in Ko Kret This was about the best part of any trip.
You will never miss to try tasty local food in Ko Kret, very unique and not often to be found anywhere else, also a chance to try many kind of thai sweet dessert.
From a number of food stalls by sidewalk to local restaurants most run by local. There's also some nice local restaurant with great view of the river. |

this temple is only one where keeps the Buddhist scripture in Mon language. I like to see that scripture because I am a Mon. Is there any chance for outsider like me to make a copy of that scripture for the use of our Mon? | thedouglas Sat Apr 8, 2006 23:50 UTC
