Khreshchatyk is both a historical place and a busy shopping street. It connects European Square with Bessarabian Square and is blocked for traffic on weekends when you can enjoy a nice walk along this street.
The Central Department Store is located directly in the central street of the capital and has lots of departments. It has always attracted crowds of people.
There are a lot of other modern shops in Khreshchatyk - just go into one of them, choose whatever you like, pay and go!
So easy!

What To Buy: Walking about the city, especially uptown, you will see lots of vendors outside the metro station entrances that have been turned into small markets.
This old woman was selling apples when we were going to the metro and we could not but stop and buy a kilogram. A talk with the seller is an inalienable part of the process of buying goods from the street vendors who bring their vegetables and fruit from the nearby villages to earn some money to keep their families.
So don't trade with those people, just buy whatever you need, have a short conversation with them and don't be greedy about giving them a tip (or at least not taking the change).

What To Pay: Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) or $, as you wish (ask the vendor).
It's a free market, you know...

This huge four-storey mall was fully refurbished and now looks very nice borh from outside and inside.
It is air-conditioned, has a lot of departments and an entertainment center upstairs.
You can see a grand piano and a huge doll bear "playing" it.
You can use escalators to get to the necessary floor (the restrooms are next to escalators on each floor).
There is a supermarket on the ground floor.
The first floor ofers perfumes, gifts, jewelry, shoes. There is also a bank and a cafe there.
The third floor: World of fashion and Sports;
The fourth floor is occupied by the entertainment center: a movie theater and a cafe.

What To Buy: perfumes, gifts, jewelry, shoes, fashionable clothes, etc

What To Pay: 100 UAH and above
