This unique church is a place of pilgrimage of lots of Catholics in the whole area and a place of many meetings and holidays.
The church is located on a hill and towers above the lake providing nice views from behind the altar wall.
The altar is great, too.
We were inside the church and sat there listening to the organ after the service.
We were very impressed by the Catholic Church called
Maria Attersee, especially by its altar that you can see on this picture.
You can see statues of St.Anna and St.Elizabeth on both sides of the altar, which is also very unusual I think.
Listening to the church organ was a wonderful experience.
Before entering Maria Attersee Church we saw this war memorial erected in 1926 and dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the two world wars.
It depicts Jesus blessing an Austrian soldier for defending his Motherland.
You can see the names of all the soldiers and officers who left to the front from the city of Attersee and fell at the fronts of the two world wars.
When you go up the hill to the Catholic Church, you will pass this church with a beautiful spire -
Attersee Evangelic Church, one of the few Protestant churches at the lakeshore.
