Peaceful and Relaxing Austria

by hunterV - last update: Aug 20, 2008

Three Happy Weeks

A view of Weyregg

In the summer of 2003 I was very happy to spend a part of my vacation in this beautiful quiet town at the shore of Lake Attersee - the largest inland lake of Austria.
It was my first long and enjoyable trip to Austria - that fabulous country.

Nice vacations

It was a trip to Weyregg with a group of fifteen kids, orphans from a boarding school in Luhansk region.
I was selected by the regional educational authorities to be the group's facilitator and interpreter.
The holiday stay was sponsored by "Global-2000", a famous Austrian environmental protection organization.
We stayed at the Agricultural Vocational School in Weyregg in the district called Reichholz on the hill from where we enjoyed wonderful views of Lake Attersee every day.
We experienced fascinating walks through the forests, enjoyed interesting siteseeing tours and the variety of leisure activities and admired the unique natural surroundings.
No matter what the weather conditions might be, you can always enjoy every day of your stay there.

Memorable Stay

We bathed, went hiking, visited lots of towns and cities and met a lot of nice people there.

Also, I made lots of pictures.
There are several nice places in Weyregg.
The town's name dates back to the 17th century when there was Weyregg County whose rulers were the Weyr Family. So the name suggests "Weyr's Corner". You can still see lots of houses dating back to the 17th and 18th century.
At present Weyregg is more like a village with its 1,500 residents. I enjoyed the atmosphere in this village and met many friendly people there...

Pros:"Nice little town at the lake, wonderful beach, lots of nice houses and services, sports, superb views"
Cons:"nothing bad at all! (except those biting tics in the forests)"
In A Nutshell:"Dream Town"

Excellent page with a lot of interesting tips (I especially loved local custom tips). 55 points in one game was not too bad! I took "Mozartkugeln" home after my first travel to Europe in 1995 as well, haha!

Hi, thanks for comments on my Weyregg page, I actually read all about your visit there before I went, so you gave me an idea of the place. Thanks for that.
