Getting TO/AROUND: Taxis are plentiful. Major towns have excellent bus services. A network of well-paved roads connects Baghdad with all parts of the country. Regular flights were scheduled between Baghdad, Basrah and Mosul. If there are any now, please contact Iraqi Airways Offices and any other travel agencies.
A network of railway lines also connects (or used to connect when I was there) Baghdad with many towns as well as cities abroad, as follows:

It goes through Babylon (Hilla), Kadisiya (Samawa, thence to Warka).
2.

3.
Baghdad — Baquba—Kirkuk -Arbil Line, 461 kms., including its branches to Jelawla and Khanaqin.
4.
Baghdad—Samarra—Tikrit—Shergat, (Ashur) - Hammam al-Alil (mineral baths) - Mosul Line. There are/were two Baghdad — Mosul and Mosul — Baghdad trains daily, a morning one and an evening one.
5.
Baghdad Mosul —Tell Kochek —Ya'rubiya Line, 528 kms. At the Iraqi border it joins the Syrian and Turkish railways. This
