Traveling south to Hua Hin

by fradelaide - last update: Jul 11, 2008

Hua Hin beach

I always visit Hua Hin

After the madness and pollution of Bangkok, I headed south to my favorite place, Hua Hin.This time I took the train, 3rd class, wooden seats, no aircon, but quite comfortable. This train takes about four + hours to get there stopping at almost every stop. But for 48 Baht who's complaining.
Jetty cabins Hua Hin

At last Hua Hin

First thing I do is head down to the sea front, which is only a ten minute walk from the station.Just to the left of the Hilton is the first of many jetties. This one has wooden cabins all along it, some aircon and others just a fan.I prefer the fan right at the end over the ocean. These cabins cost around 400 Baht per night. The advantage of staying here is that they hire motorbikes too at around 200 Baht per day.I can normally strike a deal for about 500 Baht per day for both.Thats it I have my holiday freedom and I am set to relax and tour around.

Plenty to offer in Hua Hin

Hua Hin is a great place to visit. There is good accommodation 2 star to 5 star, plenty of good eating places to be found, I usually eat at the restaurant at the ends of the jetties, great seafood.Night time I head for the night market, after that I like to head for the bars and enjoy the fun, friendliness and a nice cool beer. After a few days here I will be heading further south to Hat Yai to visit one of my many Thai friends.

Pros:"Very friendly cheap place to visit."
Cons:"You just have to shut your eyes on the persistent taxi drivers."
In A Nutshell:"A country that makes you return."
