| Australia | Uluru / Kata Tjuta Posted: Fri August 1, 2008 03:57 PM UTC
I will get the air tickets to visit the Uluru area and I have a couple of questions
-Do I fly and leave from Ayers Rock directly and I skip Alice Spring ? -Is it better to fly to AS , rent a car and then to fly out from AR ? -Is it easy to rent a car in AR with reasonable prices ? -Can we visit Uluru and the Kings Canyon on our own renting a car -Three nights and four days is enough ? Thank you !!!! Gracias !!!!! |

1. Yes it is possible to fly to/from Ayer's Rock (check the itineraries on www.qantas.com);
2. Is it better ?? We flew into Alice Springs and had an one way car rental to Uluru, visiting on our way both Kings Canyon and Uluru. A great adventure !! 3. Easy: yes. Reasonable priced: can't tell you, but in my opinion everything at Ayer's Rock is more or less pricey (not much competition there). 4. You can visit both on your own. Be aware the distance between these destinations is about 300 km's (one way). That is why we opted for an one way trip. 5. Three nights enough: generally yes, but depends on what you are planning to do. See for more info: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/7c27b/1cb166/ happy travels Jaap

I once travelled in a bushcamper ten days in the Red Centre, doing a loop from and back to Alice Springs. It was so wonderful that I consider it the best thing I have ever experienced in Australia.
But if you do not have that much time (I know you want to visit a lot of other places ;-) four days is good to visit Uluru and the Olgas. Although you can fly directly to Uluru I think it would be a good alternative to do the one way rental thing from Alice Springs, as the drive would give you a good impression of the desert.
